The Vietnamese national football team was beaten 0-1 by host Hong Kong on March 22 and it is the second loss of Vietnam in the group E of the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers. Just three minutes before the end of the game, Hong Kong was awarded a free kick on the right wing and the ball was lobbed into the Vietnam box, where Chan Wai Ho was in favor position and jumped up to head home the only goal of the match.
Vietnamese goalkeeper Buu Ngoc failed to save the ball as it flew high into the far corner of his goal frame. It was a regrettable defeat as Vietnam had better ball possession and created more attacks especially in the first half of the match. So, though both coaches of Hong Kong and Vietnam vowed to beat rival, only the coach Kim Pan Gon kept his promise to beat Vietnam as what he had said prior to the game. Before, Vietnam and Hong Kong had three encounters and each scored a win and a draw. On October 15, Vietnam will take on Uzbekistan.
